Acute Frequent Hot Flashes?

I am 44 years old and have only had 3 periods this past years. My doctor has performed blood tests confirming menopause. Now, suddenly within the past 2 weeks I have started having hot flashes and I have NEVER had them before. I am getting them about 4-6 per hour, yes, per HOUR! Is this normal?
