Did the 4th hokage participate in the 2nd shinobi war?

it is said that the 4th [namikaze minato] became famous during the 3rd shinobi war but at that time he already had a gennin team also after the war he was chosen for the hokage seat so i was just wondering if it were possible that he did participate in the 2nd shinobi war since his age isn't specified... i just need pillars that can possibly reinforce this speculation... thanks.. other suggestions are also accepted... ^^
