Were they simply refusing? plz help?

When they ask why, tell them "I don't know, I just thought that it would be more intresting having a study buddy than doing it alone." Or in the case of the first guy say, "Oh, no, I get it all, I was just wondering if we could study together. I think it's more fun studying with another person than it is doing it alone." or something to that affect. Hope this Helps!
