The line of symmetry for the quadratic equation y = ax2 - 2x - 3 is x = 1. What is the value of "a"?
If x=1 is a line of symmetry, then x-1 is a term in the polynomial. Dividing ax-2x-3 by x-1 gives us x+3 and no remainder when a=1.
