Smtime in 04 or 05, I heard a song, "Daniel", 1st done by Elton John, now live by a country artist. WHO?!!?

It started out," when I was younger, this was one of my favorite songs, hell, I guess it still is!"...... Guitar Intro,..."Daniel is leaving tonite on a plane, I can see the red taillights, headed to spain", etc etc etc. Who was the country artist?
